Journey to Hawaii - Lava Orange Limited Edition of 300, designed by Lost Tiki, Jeff Granito, Thor
For those who recognize it, this mug was very clearly inspired by a coveted piece of Tiki ephemera. The foam tiki statue that this mug’s Ku was modeled after is none other than from one of the most iconic, memorable, and influential travel marketing and advertising campaigns by United Airlines promoting air travel to Hawaii.
With a passion for Hawaii, Tiki, and all things at the intersect of art in popular culture and advertising, Lost Tiki envisioned and designed this mug with the help of friends Jeff Granito and Tom “THOR” Thordarson. Jeff and THOR each contributed depictions on the mug that represent some of the experiences and history that one encounters when visiting Hawaii. THOR masterfully brought these concepts together, and to life, in the sculpt.
Lost Tiki’s inspiration for each of the mugs originally created for TikiLand Mug Society is to tell part of his, and many other’s, story and journey of “falling down the Tiki rabbit hole”. This is the 2nd mug in the ongoing TikiLand Mug Society series.
A custom drink recipe created by Kelly Merrell is included.

Mug photos show the mug in multiple lighting scenarios in indoor natural light, in outdoor direct sun light, as well as in a bar setting indoors with colored lights present. No filters, additional external lights (other than lights already indoors), or editing has been used on these photos besides cropping.

Mug size and volume: This mug is approximately 10 inches tall, and holds nearly 22 oz (this will vary from mug to mug depending on wall thickness when it was made).

- Each mug is hand made. Each mug is hand cast, hand cleaned up seam lines, then individually hand glazed! As a result, each mug will be unique and have variations in glaze, color, cleanup, etc.

What are “Whoopsies”?
This only applies to those who select 'Whoopsies' as an option when ordering.
During production, sometimes 'Whoopsies!' happen. These mugs we still consider sellable and usable, but we’ve previously held them back from shipping for often very small and obscure reasons that most people wouldn’t notice/care about. While all of our mugs are hand made and unique, some are a little more unique than others. We’ve had many people inquire about mugs that we’ve not had in-stock for awhile, so we thought this could be a good way to get some mugs that we no longer produce into the hands of those who really want them, and to make room on our shelves for new mugs that we’ve got in the works.
Each of these tiki mugs will have one or more of these, or other, small issues: glaze somewhere unintended, tiny black dots from particles in the kiln, glaze smudges, superficial cracks that don’t affect the integrity of the mug, variation in color or glaze texture, cleanup issues, etc. As each mugs issues vary and are unique, they aren’t reflected in pictures here. Mugs are being sold in as-is condition. While we reserve the right to permanently mark mugs on bottom, out of sight, to indicate they're part of this group, this set will not be marked. Exchanges for alternate 'Whoopsie!' mugs will be allowed if buyer pays shipping costs. Mugs will not arrive cracked (excludes superficial ‘cracks’).

Sometimes we have mugs that don’t pass our final quality control process for various reasons. These mugs aren’t considered “firsts” or even “whoopsies”. Many of them we do not feel are appropriate for use with beverages. Instead of destroying these mugs, we've decided to sell them in AS-IS condition and for Decor Use Only for a low price so that some people may still get enjoyment from them.
These mugs could be used on a shelf for display, used to make a lamp, used as a pot, some other DIY project, or even to hold things such as barware, swizzles, straws, pens, etc!
Again, for those of you familiar with our "Whoopsies" program, these are not considered the same. These mugs are not exchangeable. Mugs will be guaranteed to arrive without structural cracks/in one piece, but these could have superficial glaze cracks or chips, as well as other issues. These will be clearly distinguishable from legit first quality mugs and Whoopsies because they will have a whole drilled in the bottom, so they will not hold liquid.
